Graphical extremes of play

I recently downloaded two very different games for the iPhone - "Rage" and "Mr. AahH!". One is a graphical masterpiece that breaks new ground for gaming on a mobile phone and the other features a stick-man swinging from a line onto crude rainbow-coloured towers. Oddly, both are enjoyable.

myFry for iPhone

I love how the interface for Stephen Fry’s autobiography app doubles as the “cover”. Information design as art.

Come on England

Eng

Thought I’d knock up an iPhone wallpaper to show my support for my country at the FIFA World Cup 2010. Why not put it on your phone too, along with the Telegraph World Cup and Vuvuzela apps.

Mimeo and the Kleptopus King

This looks like a great iPhone/iPod Touch game, coming soon from Shaun Inman. Do want. Power-ups affect the playing world rather than the main character, upgrading it from 8-bit to 16-bit, etc. Nice concept. Take a look at the work in progress video.

Google Reader's Mobile Tweak

Img_0003

It seems that Google have mildly changed the interface on their Reader Mobile app. We now have icon-based buttons for "refresh" and a less obvious one to reveal a slew of options that used to be text-based links. All in all it give users a slightly larger area for their content, which is good.

Tesco Value the iPhone

Value_iphone

So the iPhone is coming to Tesco Mobile – what will this mean for pricing as one of the world’s most premium products comes to one of the UK’s least premium supermarkets. At the end of the day, an iPhone is an iPhone so I can only imagine that the tariffs will be the main differentiator. Going to be interesting to see how this pans out though. However I feel that there is a chance that the iPhone may lose some of its shine if every Tom, Dick and Harry has one, but let’s wait and see. Something tells me it won’t be that cheap.

iCal subscription sync working in iPhone OS 3.1

Pastedgraphic

I don’t think this was mentioned at Apple 09/09/09 event but something suddenly started to happen today with my iPhone after updating to OS 3.1. All the calendars I subscribe to in iCal have synchronised with Calendar on the iPhone via MobileMe. This is great and I couldn’t be happier – however there doesn’t seem to be a way to manage the subscriptions that get synced. The only way I can see of removing them from the phone is to remove them from iCal. Oh well… it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
