Graphical extremes of play

I recently downloaded two very different games for the iPhone - "Rage" and "Mr. AahH!". One is a graphical masterpiece that breaks new ground for gaming on a mobile phone and the other features a stick-man swinging from a line onto crude rainbow-coloured towers. Oddly, both are enjoyable.

Mario hits the wall

Technically excellent CG work, but I love the idea of playing a platform game on a physical platform. Guess we’ll have to make do with this for now.

Pool Pro Online is free for today only. It's available for iPhone and iPad and is actually very good.

Mimeo and the Kleptopus King

This looks like a great iPhone/iPod Touch game, coming soon from Shaun Inman. Do want. Power-ups affect the playing world rather than the main character, upgrading it from 8-bit to 16-bit, etc. Nice concept. Take a look at the work in progress video.

Totally Orbital

Photo

I had Orbital brought to my attention by Elliot Jay Stocks on Twitter. It’s not often people say that something is their “absolute favourite iPhone app”. Orbital is a simple puzzle game in the same vein as Puzzle Bobble - and it’s very addictive. It’s only £0.59 (US $0.99) and it’s worth every penny in my book. As you can see from my high score above (14), I’ve got quite a bit of work to do. But, with Facebook integration you can compete against your friends if they also have the app installed - so that should motivate me to do a bit better.

Here’s the official teaser from developers Bitforge.

Find out more at the Orbital website or buy it now on the App Store.
